A person commits a class 1 misdemeanor if he or she, with the intent to intimidate or harass another person because of that person’s actual or perceived race, color, religion, ancestry, or national origin, subjects the other person to physical contact; directs obscene language or gestures toward the other person in public; follows the other person in public; repeatedly initiates or attempts to initiate communication with the other person; or repeatedly insults, taunts, challenges, or makes communications in offensively coarse language to the other person.
